HAPPY NEW YEAR! I just finished this Log Cabin pillow top which is designed by Jane McGown Flynn. I will be offering it as a kit as soon as I price it. I hooked it in one of the color families..... can you guess which family this is?
I had lots of fun working with unusual materials. Some of this is hooked with ribbon and I have discovered that I love Boucle yarn--especially the ones with shiny bits of stuff. Double up your strand to make it easier to hook.
I planned this piece purely with the use of 5 colors and a "poison". Geometrics can also be planned using values--- hooking Light to dark or dark to light. Controlling values will result in the optical illusion you often see in geometric designs.
My new color class is coming up at Anne Arundel Community College the end of January. Nobody will leave this class without a solid understanding of color. Each student will complete the class with an entire notebook of visual aids to assist them in color planning in the future. The color Family system is the easiest to understand. Go to www.rugandwool.com for more information on this class.
