News---- Painting and Rug Hooking

Hi Everybody,..... This will probably be my last post until I return from Ireland. I'll be painting and hooking sheep  when I return!!!   Just a few reminders-- Anne Arundel Community College starts registration June 1 and I am offering a new class in Negative Painting. This is a class for those of you with some experience. It starts October 1 and will be in the afternoon up at the college in Arnold. It looks like it will fill fast ,so sign up as early as you can.  This painting that I have posted will be one of the exercises in the class.  I will also be teaching an evening class in basic watercolor techniques.

Rug Hooking classes begin in September. I have a beginner class scheduled on  September 13 and then, Color and Design to follow.

I'll be at Maryland Hall for the first time October 17 teaching a one day workshop.

My solo Show at Quiet Waters Park Galleries  opens to the public on July 18. I will be looking forward to seeing all of you that responded to my invitation to come to the opening on Sunday, June 21 from 2-4.

Painting at Gallery 1683 in Annapolis, Maryland

I had a great Sunday demonstrating negative painting at Gallery 1683 for the Annapolis Watercolor Club.  Keep your eyes on www.paintpencil.com for tips on this and other painting techniques.  I will be posting a video in the near future showing the  negative painting process.

 

Common Ground On The Hill Traditions Week July 5-17

This is a reminder for all of you arts and crafts lovers from Maryland, Pennsylvania , Virginia and beyond to consider spending a week on the campus of  McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland at  Traditions Week- Art and Music Festival.   When you attend Common Ground you take more than one class. I am teaching rug hooking in the afternoon ( Primitive roses on a small hearth rug).   You can take my class and another as well. Here are some of the possibilities:  Millinery (making hats!); Digital Photography; Designing your Dream Garden; Drawing; split woven baskets; Navajo Weaving; silk painting, jewelry making; collage;beading  and the list goes on!!!!!!!!!   In the evening some of the best musical groups will be performing. Go to www.commongroundonthehill.org  to see the complete schedule and instructions for registering.   I hope some of you will join me that week.    P.S. The Iris is gorgeous... called "Batik." My husband is responsible for the garden. Her grows the flowers and I either hook or paint them!!!!!!

A GREAT WEEKEND

It was a gorgeous weekend.....  Saturday afternoon I finished another nest painting-- this one very abstract. I am spending most of my time painting and framing for my solo show that opens up at Quiet Waters on June 21 .  We went to the opening of the Annapolis Watercolor Club's Gallery 1683 Show on Saturday night. Here is a picture . If you live near Annapolis be sure to stop by. The Gallery is located right on Main Street.  Go to our web site at www.annapoliswatercolorclub.org for information about this organization.  The weekend ended with a great dinner at our friend Carol's house. She just finished building a beautiful waterfall and pond and you can see a family of ducks decided to move in.

Maryland Wool and Sheep Show

Despite a little rain it was a great day at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Show.  I always love my visit to the sheep pens.  There is a part of me that would love to have a farm and be able to bring one of these fellows home!!!! I did buy lots of fleece, but mainly for my popular bird's nests!

These two lambs to the right  were kissing. I wish I had been a little closer with my camera shot!  The fellow below and to the left almost came home with me!!!
