PICTORIAL HOOKED RUGS HAS ARRIVED!

 OK....  I got a call from the publisher this morning !!!!The book  has arrived and is being shipped today!   My copies are in the mail so I have not seen the finished book yet.
 
 
 

Jane's New Book

The next book will be based on my color  families and  hopefully  will be available  in 2010 if the author can squeeze in some writing time!!!

The Nest- Part II

My fall Nest is coming along. The entire background has to be hooked before the fun part of adding the nest can be done. The last step will be feathers, twigs, yarn, unspun wool  and a little fabric!

More rugs from the Pictorial Class

  This rendition of "Nubble Light," which is a Fraser pattern is being hooked by Marge Barnard.  She is in the group class  picture but her rug was hidden!   It is her first pictorial and it will be in my new book next year!  I wish you could see the detail in the American Flag on the left side of the Keepers cottage. Great job Marge.... now you have to finish!!!

Pictorial News!

 In 2000 my book The Pictorial Rug was published and it quickly sold out. Many of you have called and e-mailed me for information about getting a copy. The good news is a new one is on the way, It will be published next year--towards the fall and be bigger and better. If you subscribe to Rug Hooking Magazine you will hear about it in advance. If you are not a subscriber send me an e-mail -jane@janehalliwell.com and  I will make sure you are notified ahead of time.  If you are a rug hooker with a great pictorial rug call or write me. I am looking for rugs and wall hangings to be included.

New type of pictorial rug

This small picture is a wall hanging  called "Sunflower Cottage." I converted a very popular painting into fiber. I am adding another category of pictorial rug and calling this a Stylized pictorial. Those of you who have read the Pictorial Rug Book know I break pictorials in to three categories and this is definitely NOT realistic or  primitive-- possibly impressionistic, but leaning to abstraction.

Notice  how I break into the borders and let the colors become monochromatic. The borders are uneven-- something not done very often in rug hooking.   You can't see the centers but they are loops. I used my "Everything Spot" for the centers. I can't live without this wool!
