Color and Design Workshops

 This is a small piece I designed for my color workshops coming up in 2010.  Those of you who have taken the Color and Design class should know the color family ??????? I will post the design on www.rugandwool.com. The pattern, Fantasy Flower will be available shortly. This piece is also a good example of broken borders and the use of casseroles in the scrolls. 

The workshop will be offered at the Howard County Center for the Arts  February 27.   Stay tuned for a Color Family workbook coming out next year.
 

New Pictorial: Aran Landscape FINISHED!!!

 

This small pictorial was inspired by my love of Ireland. This cottage is on the Aran Islands. I placed a small picture (about 6"x6") inside a larger  landscape. I often do this with my paintings and I have discovered it works well in fiber also. The challenge is making each area look different, especially the skies. The center of interest is the fuchsia blossoms not the cottage.

COLOR and DESIGN

COLOR and DESIGN starts next Sunday, September 27 at Anne Arundel Community College-- West campus. We meet from 1 O'clock to 3 O'clock. There is still time to register by calling 410-777-2325. This class is all about color and my color families and each participant will be creating a special color planning tool in class.

A wonderful pictorial workshop in Hiawasee Georgia!!!!

 It was a great three days hooking at Linda Bell's beautiful home on the lake in Hiawasee. Everyone went home pixelating, shagging, meandering and just having fun. Now finish those rugs!!!!!

This is Melanie Clem to the left, and below (right) is her pixelated shrubbery. She designed her very large rug. After 3 days she was half way done!  Cherry, Becky and Karen are across the table.

Virginia Class excells

These are some of the fabulous rugs in process after a 6 week Color and Design Class through the Fairfax County Schools. Congratulations !!!!!!

Nest Part 3: Finished

  Finally finished!   The last part was the best! I filled the nest with feathers, unspun wool, fabric, yarn, and raffia.

Color Family #1 - Pillow completed

  Chryl  Kaisler finished her pillow!!!  This is color family #1.  I can say, because I'm the teacher, that she did a fantastic job!  See the close up.

HOOKED NESTS

 I love hooking bird's nests!   I have yet to add the bird!   This is the start of my fall nest. I'll show you how it progresses.  I sell every one I hook so obviously a popular subject.  The fun part is the nest. You'll see in the next photo that I will be using yarn (eyelash is great), unspun wool. sticks, feathers,raffia, and anything else I can think of!   I'll be producing a line of these patterns on the theme in the near future!

Common Ground On the Hill

 July 6-12  COMMON GROUND ON THE HILL, Westminster, Maryland. www.commongroundonthehill.com    This will be the first time I have taught here. It is a fabulous week of art and music on the campus of McDaniel's College.   Go to the web site to see the wide range of art, craft, and music offered. It is a perfect place to try some new things. The classes are half day which allows you to take one in the morning and one in the afternoon. If you have not  tried rug hooking my afternoon class will be a simple primitive floral piece ideal for beginners.  

 If you love music as I do, the evenings will be packed with great entertainment. The campus is gorgeous and I hear the food is also great.
